UPSC CMS Eligibility Criteria 2024

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has laid down the eligibility criteria for the UPSC CMS Civil Services Examination in four major parameters- nationality, educational qualification, age criteria and the number of attempts. The UPSC CMS Eligibility Criteria have been discussed in detail below.

Nationality

A candidate must fulfill any one of the nationality conditions:

• A citizen of India
• The subject of Nepal
• The subject of Bhutan
• Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India
• A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries like Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India
• Candidates belonging to categories b, c, d, and e should produce a certificate of eligibility, which has been issued by the Government of India.

Age Limit & Relaxation

• A candidate must not have attained the age of 32 years as of August 01, 2024, i.e. the candidate must have been born not earlier than August 02, 1990.
• For Junior Time Scale Posts in Central Health Services, the upper age limit must not exceed 35 (thirty-five years) on the aforesaid cut-off date.
• The upper age limit is relaxable as follows.

UPSC CMS Educational Qualification

• MBBS students who have cleared their written and practical parts of the final examination.
• A candidate who has appeared or has yet to appear at the final M.B.B.S. Examination may also apply.

Note:

1. The final year candidates will be admitted to the examination if otherwise eligible but the admission would be deemed to be provisional and subject to cancellation, if they do not produce proof of having passed the written and practical part of the final M.B.B.S. Examination along with the detailed application which will be required to be submitted to the Commission by the candidates who qualify on the result of the Computer-based examination. Such proof of passing the requisite examination should be dated earlier than the due date (closing date) of the detailed Application Form of the Combined Medical Services Examination, 2024.
2. A candidate who has yet to complete the compulsory rotating internship is educationally eligible for admission to the examination but on selection Process, he/she will be appointed only after he/she has completed the compulsory rotating internship.

Candidates must be physically and medically fit according to the physical/medical standards for the Combined Medical Services Examination 2024 as per the regulations of CMSE.

UPSC CMS Exam Fees

While filling up the UPSC CMS application form, the process remains incomplete without the fee payment. UPSC CMS Exam Pattern 2024

The examination is held in two rounds: written examination, passing which one qualifies to attend the personality test. The written test consists of two papers: I and II each carrying 250 marks held for 2 hours each. The test is in Multiple Choice Question type with the booklet set in the English language. The UPSC CMS exam pattern of the written exam is as follows.

• For each wrong answer, 0.33 marks are deducted.
• In the case of having chosen multiple answers in the MCQ, marks are deducted.
• In the case no answer is selected, no marks are deducted.

UPSC CMS Personal Interview

CMS personal interview is conducted by the UPSC for all candidates who clear the Written exam cutoff. Candidates who obtain the required qualifying marks in the Written exams will be invited to participate in the CMS Personality Test. The Personality Exam (Interview) is worth 100 points. After the individual has passed the personality test, his or her documents and eligibility will be thoroughly scrutinised.

CMS vacancy 2024 hasn't mentioned in the official notification. A total of Approx. 558 vacancies are to be filled out. These openings are subject to the category-based reservation system. Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) will be given priority for seven positions (03 vacancies for Locomotor Disability including Leprosy cured, Dwarfism, Acid Attack victims and Muscular Dystrophy & 04 vacancies for Hard of Hearing).
